69-2268 – Stansted station

Here is a quick sketch I did on our journey from Suffolk to London. It was cold and damp as we waited for the train but we had extra time to sit and have some refreshments, so I decided to try and draw the train. Normally I would have finished this off more carefully, but as I’d got the perspective wrong, I lost my enthusiasm.

  1. I like it. Perhaps your visual cortex prompted you to stop when you did for design reasons. Perspective isn’t everything. The masses of black and that huge cylinder have a formalist je ne sais quoi. The red on the sign, amid the darks, is wonderful. Even the spare lines of the platform demark the space in a summary but very appealing way.
