699 – Breakfast by the pool

I sketched this on my last day in Amman while having breakfast. The big guy on the right appeared half way though my drawing, so I had to add him in. All the time I was at the Bristol Hotel I didn’t see anyone using the pool – either because it’s too cold or because you’d be swimming in front of everyone at the restaurant.

695 – Citadel

Last Saturday I was lucky enough to have some time off so I walked to the Citadel in Amman to do some sketching. Walking there seemed a good idea when I began, but Amman is not designed for walking and neither were my shoes. By the time I got there I had blisters! Nevertheless I still enjoyed the sketching – this is the first one I did. It’s a Roman ruin – part of the Temple of Hercules built in the 2nd century AD.

694 – Dirty windows

I often sketch my hotel room when I travel for work – this one is in the Bristol Hotel in Amman. The windows were pretty grubby and were tinted yellow, so the light in the room was quite strange.

693 – Three chandeliers

Here is another dinner time sketch at the Warak Enab restaurant near the Bristol hotel in Amman. Instead of the multiple lampshades this time I drew the connecting openings between the rooms….where there is a chandelier (and a TV) hanging in each space.
