Yesterday I left Jordan heading to Lebanon. The airport in Amman is much fancier than it was when I used to live here – soaring concrete arches and domes…all done very tastefully. Unfortunately my sketch makes it look a bit gloomy.

Another sketch in my hotel room done yesterday. The picture on the wall on the left has been hung upside down…it’s abstract but the signature should have been a clue to the hotel.

Today I finally managed to find time to sketch in the daylight. I did this one after having my breakfast. The restaurant of my hotel is partly arranged around a swimming pool, so I haven’t been swimming as you’d be bathing right in front of an audience. One couple chose a far away spot to eat, perhaps so the lady could take off her headscarf. The trunk is part of a big artificial palm tree.

This is another of my late night sketches – just a doodle of a water bottle on my bedside table.

I haven’t had time to sketch in the daylight the last few days (too much work) – so it’s back to late night sketches in my hotel room. Here is the first. It’s amazing how similar hotel rooms are!

Here is the view from my hotel in Amman…not very exciting actually. However all buildings are made of beautiful limestone and the light is very bright. I’d like to sketch outside here but I think I’d fry in moments.
