Here is my second sketch done last Saturday at the American University of Beirut. Behind this unassuming old university building (and outside of the campus) are some rather ugly modern efforts.

747 – Sunshine at the AUB
Last Saturday I was lucky enough to have a free afternoon before I caught my flight back home from Beirut, so naturally I took the opportunity to do some sketching. The American University of Beirut (AUB) was established in 1866 and the campus has some lovely gardens and old buildings. This sketch also serves as my first for the Doodlewash June challenge, the prompt being “sunshine”…though I still have a couple to post for the May challenge!

I did this sketch very early in the morning, trying to catch up with the Doodlewash May challenge prompt of drink for 29 May. Of course the cup has coffee in it!

Here is a quick sketch for the Doodlewash prompt of “Dinner” for Monday 28th! This is the dinner I had on Wednesday – a delicious felafel sandwich.

#447 – Women in black, man in white
I haven’t posted in a while and reckon I’ve missed a couple of days – that always seems to happen when I get back from travels. Anyway here is one I did exiting Lebanon at the airport – a super fast sketch of some passengers. No watercolor in this one, so I can’t count it as one of my #WorldWatercolorMonth efforts!

#445 – Appetito Trattoria
Last night I chose a restaurant rated highly in Trip Advisor – it turned out to be very nice and I had a tasty dish of ravioli stuffed with spinach and cheese. The lady serving me was complimentary about my sketch and even took a photo. In the drawing is their pizza oven – obviously wood burning (that’s a log bin above it).

This is a quick doodle done in my hotel room. The walls are white or off white, but to my eyes have a lot of colour reflected.
