This sketch was done when my wife and I visited Manila Memorial Park, making an Easter visit to my wife’s parents who are interred there and also doing some cycling. We stopped to have a drink of water after a while and this was the view. After a little googling I found that this kind of tree is often known as a Cannonball Tree but the latin name is Couroupita guianensis. When they mature, the fruit falls to the ground and cracks open to reveal a mass of bluish-green pulp that exudes a fetid aroma!
