When I was in Turkey (for work) recently, I bought back some souvenirs and (on the advice of a colleague), visited a delicatessen to buy cheese, dried apricots (the sun dried ones which are not orange but are brown are the best one) etc. The guy behind the counter who couldn’t speak English was very keen for me to buy the best, real Turkish stuff and encouraged me to buy this huge jar of olives (we communicated through google translate and a lot of arm waving), as well as dried figs and a huge tray of walnuts!
