On my last full day in Colombo I managed to squeeze in a walk to this park (which I think used to be Victoria park). It’s full of wonderful massive old trees plus a few statues including this Buddha. There was a bit of competition for the few benches in the park, so I perched on a tree stump to sketch this…then towards the end got bitten on the bum by a nasty looking red and black ant!

As Van Gogh said so famously, “one must suffer for art.” Mean ants that bite fall into that category of experiences.
How big is Mr. Buddha? He looks like he’s pretty big.

Yup still have that bite to remind me. Buddha was about 4m tall… pretty big
