With this post I am going way back to the #Sketchtober2023 prompts (for Day 10). This hat is a fantastically inventive piece of local craftwork (I’d love to say it’s a Filipino invention, but a Google search refers them as both Chinese and Japanese). It is made from a shaped set of bamboo ribs, covered in a piece of fabric, which fan open from a pin at the top, to form the hat (it is held open with a little bit of velcro) and then fold back together like a handheld fan. Of course you can also use it to fan yourself!
