Here is my first sketch in a newly made sketchbook – using Cass Art hot pressed watercolour paper (300gsm) – I bought this big pad in Liverpool. I have been searching for my ideal watercolour/sketchbook paper and I am hoping this might be “the one”, as it’s relatively affordable! So far, it takes the ink beautifully, though I feel it’s sized a bit too heavily – the paint stays on the surface for quite a while and it takes a long time for layers of paint to build up to good strong colours. I always find it tricky to adjust for the first few sketches, so lets see in a few weeks, how I feel about it.

I’m interested to hear how you like it. Please do report back. I, too, am seeking the Holy Grail!
