That is a coincidence! Ching is hugely popular with architects who like to draw though. When I was studying we all referred to his book “Architectural Graphics” but it’s intended for teaching architects drawing style and methods. It contained lots of stuff about lettering and so forth – so you might not find it useful? He’s written many books so it’s hard to recommend one…maybe it would be best to go to a good bookstore and browse to see what would suit you best? [sorry if this reply is a repeat of something I wrote earlier…my first response didn’t seem to go through].
Oh I love this! and your perspective and color….the tree with all that juicy green with the hint of blue really anchors this drawing. You have an excellent handle on perspective, any tips or how you learned?
Thanks Margaret. I need encouragement, as I’m not usually satisfied with my drawings. I picked up perspective as I’m an architect. One author we all referred to when I studied was Francis DK Ching -a pretty conventional architectural graphic style that many sketchers (myself included) seem to use
I was just looking him up just now….how weird is that? I follow another sketcher that referred him to me….but instead of Frank, I found out his name is Francis. I was trying to figure out which book would be best, they sound so professional! Any suggestion as to which one?
