This was drawn [and painted] super fast while I was waiting for pizza bases to cook. The kitchen is a bit of a jumble. The drawing was sharper before I fixed and scanned it – something went wrong there.

Love the shadows in this and the details of the kitchen! Feels like I’m there.

Thanks Margaret. It’s just water colour, fountain pen ink (I use a Rotring sketching pen) and water colour pencils

Yum! to the pizza. Why do you need to fix the drawing, though? What medium in it needs the fixative?

Good question. I just did it automatically as I usually use soft graphite or chalk pastels but in this one I didn’t, so I should have just left it

Too awesome. I love this look. Practice does make perfect. Sometimes the alcohol in fixative sprays spreads the pigment around more than you’d like. 💙💙

Yeah it seems that way. It faded the colours too. Maybe I’ll go back to using hairspray!

The chemicals are not kind to the pigments, sadly. Hairspray sounds like a great alternative. I’ll try that.

I’ve used it before…it can work for some media. Test first is safe advice
