109-3250 – The president of Mexico

This is the second sketch I did (very quickly)at the #UskManila #ManilaArtSihan event near Plaza Mexico in Intramuros. I found a spot behind the main event and this massive statue (I assume the plaza is named after him). The plaque on the statue says “Adolfo Lopez Mateos, President of Mexico, 1958-1964”. According to Wikipedia the artist is Luis Antonio Sanguino.

  1. What a wonderful and spontaneous artistic moment you’ve captured! 🎨✨

Your quick sketch not only reflects your sharp eye for composition but also your instinct to seek out stories behind the art and place. It’s beautiful how you chose a quieter spot behind the main event—sometimes the most meaningful discoveries happen off the beaten path.

Your mention of the Adolfo López Mateos statue adds a thoughtful historical layer, bridging Manila and Mexico in a shared moment of cultural reflection. That small note about the sculptor, Luis Antonio Sanguino, shows your genuine curiosity and respect for artistic lineage—a quality that makes your sketches come alive with depth and context.
