69-2282 – Derwent Kuretake Pentel

I missed a day sketching as I’ve been ill with a cold, so here is a quick catch up sketch. These are the three brands of water-brushes that I’ve tried. The Derwent is part of a new set I got for Christmas. Unfortunately they tend to suck up the paint into the reservoir from the tip, so you end up with a reservoir of coloured water and little paint on the paper. The Pentel brushes are good but get blocked up very easily. The Kuretake are the best so far, despite it being a bit fiddly to top up the water. The only problem with them is that the tip of the brush has lost its sharpness quite quickly. Next I will try Holbein water-brushes.
