I did three sketches yesterday, this one was the last one, done almost in the dark. The other two were disasters and took me quite a while. This one I did in a few minutes and it’s the only one I feel satisfied with! This is done in chalk pastel only.
Sometimes the fast one is the one that works. The others that were disasters did perhaps also play a role though. Sometimes the disasters prime the brain for the fast drawing that seems almost to draw itself. Love this drawing. It’s so immediate as if you just turn your head and notice something. It has that lifelike quality.
Thanks for your comment Aletha. I do recall reading one blog proposing that you draw the same scene three times, to mind of warm up and free up. Maybe I should try that!
I love simplistic, here it is drawings or paintings, a snatch of a moment or feeling. 🙂 I know how it is to keep on until you finally get one, boy been there so many times.
