#549 – Heritage cafe
After visiting the imperial citadel I had a little bite to eat at the cafe next door – obviously named with a connection to the citadel in mind. I did this sketch while waiting for my soup.

Today I am catching up with posting drawigs from my trip to Vietnam – this one was done at a little street side restaurant where I had my dinner…and of course a local beer to go with it.

#520 – pizza homemade street cat
Here is another of my evening sketches just before eating. I found a tiny little shop called “pizza homemade” and this was the view over the road – someone selling veggies in th gloom, overlooked by ‘hello kitty’.

#518 – Mon Huê plates glued to the ceiling
Here is another of my ‘just before I eat’ sketches. I had to wander around a bit to find somewhere that has vegetarian food and came across this place. The waitresses thought it very amusing that I was sketching, but I ended up staying quite a while after finishing my meal because it began to pour with rain. While I was sketching I spotted that they have glued bowls and plates into a recess in the ceiling as some sort of weird decoration.

#516 – Namaste
Here is one of my quick sketches in the evening just before I eat. It’s better than sketching in my room each night (I have no time during the day because of work), plus I am collecting up many sketches of my favourite places to eat! Namaste is an Indian restaurant and always seems popular – I like it when I am a bit tired of Vietnamese noodles all the time and fancy some nice Indian vegetarian food!

#455 – Waiting at Italianni’s
On Sunday we took our daughter and all her friends out for a meal to celebrate her 18th birthday (after they had played laser tag)…while we waited for them to show up at the restaurant I dashed off a quick sketch of some other diners. For this one I splashed on the watercolour first (not necessarily in all the right places) and used a trusty UniBall pen to define things more clearly.

#445 – Appetito Trattoria
Last night I chose a restaurant rated highly in Trip Advisor – it turned out to be very nice and I had a tasty dish of ravioli stuffed with spinach and cheese. The lady serving me was complimentary about my sketch and even took a photo. In the drawing is their pizza oven – obviously wood burning (that’s a log bin above it).

#405 – Figures on the piano
Last night I ate at “Luna d’ Autunno” – an Italian restaurant. I had a very nice freshly made pizza and a beer – these musical figures were standing on the piano near the door.
