I spent a good long time making this on one Sunday…when I sketched these jam jars, it was fermenting nicely. The gochugaru chili powder doesn’t quite have the same rich red colour that it had before. Maybe it’s too old (luckily when I tasted the kimchi later, it was fine).

This is a sketch of some olive oil we bought at Costco in Calgary, alongside the equivalent from the Philippines. We were shocked at how big everything was in Canada …big country, big portions, massive cars and (in Costco for sure), everything bought in bulk. Of course if you can afford it and you have space to store it, the latter makes a lot of sense. This 2 litre tub of olive oil was the smallest size available!

I never tire of sketching pieces of this set of china that we bought in Cambodia many years ago. They often appear in my sketches (see No.1957) and I love that deep ultramarine colour.

Here is another random sketch of something from the fridge. I have a few prostate issues and my doctor recommends eating tomatoes – some studies (note that not all agree) say that the high levels of the anti-oxidant lycopene can help reduce the risk of prostate cancer.

Here is one of my go-to subjects – just something random from the fridge. Every time we buy honey I doubt whether it really is honey or not. This is because in 2020 the Department of Science and Technology found that about 80% of honey products sold in shops in the Philippines were not pure honey. Most were composed of sugar syrup – although all the imported products they tested were not found to be adulterated.
This will be my first post on Cara (https://cara.app/art-chap-enjoin) – I am testing out a new social media site as I am a bit fed up with IG (and Facebook). While I am not bothered about trying to sell stuff through IG, try not to care about numbers of followers and likes and have my own blog site (artchapenjoin.com), the fact that Meta makes it almost impossible to opt out of AI scraping (even though it can most likely be done from everywhere else my drawings are posted) and that many artists are losing their livelihood to AI, makes me want to at least purge my accounts a little.

Here is a sketch of something from our pantry – some cereal given to us by friends visiting from the UK (thank you Jane and Peter). The packaging has lovely colours so I thought it would make a good subject to sketch. Despite my current sketchbook being a little smaller than normal, I find I am still sketching at about A5 size…by sketching on two pages and over the crease.
