876 – Open door and CCTV

Today I followed my usual routine and went to the mall after dropping my daughter at her gymnastics class. I’ve drawn this view from Krispy Kreme before – but this time kept it much simpler…after all most of the mall is coloured a bland grey or off-white. While sketching I noticed that Krispy Kreme seems to have CCTV for security – at least that’s what the sign (top right) indicates…I wonder why?

865 – Buco loco and potato corner

Yesterday I had lunch at a little cafe serving (and called) Banh Mi – which are Vietnamese sandwiches. At last they sell a vegetarian one. While I ate my sandwich and drank my Vietnamese coffee I sketched the view. There is lots and lots of colour out there in the mall – maybe a bit too much?

790 – Bored security guard

Yesterday I had a brief moment after a meeting to sit and sketch at the Podium Mall. Sitting outside the coffee shop I was watching the security guards scanning people as they came into the mall – they looked bored stiff!

766 – I found some balloons

Here is my very, very belated sketch for the Doodlewash prompt of “hot air balloons” for 5 June. As I sketch from life rather than photos, I couldn’t find a hot air balloon so just ordinary balloons have to do. I had to hunt around in the mall on Saturday to spot these in Ace hardware. For a change I also limited my palette to reds and blues.
