#574 – Red car in the morning

Yesterday morning my wife and I sketched together from the same spot I sketched with my daughter earlier this year. Something went wrong with my perspective in this though. However for the first time I noticed that there are grave stones on the plot of Marshbeck Interiors (a furniture store)…so the building must have been a church once. I wouldn’t have noticed this if I wasn’t out sketching in the freezing cold!

#571 – Church doorway

Yesterday we went for a short early morning walk and stopped and sketched at the local church. By the time I finished my painting I couldn’t feel my fingers – when the wind blows it’s bitterly cold! In case it’s not clear, the leaning shapes in front of the doorway are gravestones.

#491 – Deanery tower Hadleigh

Today I was in Hadleigh shopping for more things for my daughter to take to university. For lunch we went to the “chippy” for some traditional British soggy chips, which we ate near the church, where I sketched this. The brick tower on the right was originally the gatehouse to a palace built by an Archdeacon in 1495.

#411 – Church lights

Yesterday I had some time to kill while my daughter hung out with her BFF, so stopped by St. Jerome Emiliani Church next door to Alabang Town Center, to do this sketch. It didn’t turn out so well – somehow the scale went wrong.

#393 – Church window

Today I am posting my last three sketches from my sketch-walk with ‘TheLifeDrawingSetup’ group last Saturday. This is stained glass window in Sta. Cruz Church, that overlooks the plaza – and a group of little stands selling drinks and snacks. I didn’t have time to finish this on site and added most of the colour at home from a photo.

0390 – Sta. Cruz Church

Today I joined a sketch-walk organized by whoaremaro/thelifedrawingsetup – the group I do life drawing with. I didn’t realize it would clash with an Urban Sketchers walk! Anyway we walked around the area of Escolta Street in Binondo, Manila – where there was a ‘Block Party‘ about to start. This is the first sketch I did of Sta. Cruz Church, which was originally built in the 17th Century.

271 – Pink House

I went out for a nice long walk today, ending up near the church in Lavenham and sat down to do this ink and watercolour sketch of a row of cottages, which is opposite. This is the first page in a new sketch book (back to using Daler Graduate sketchbooks). Even though the paper is thinner it can take a lot of my scratching and scribbling!
