67-2194 – Scurry

Here is my sketch for day 2 of #Inktober2022 – following the prompt of #Scurry. The only thing that scurries (I hope) in our house is our new kitten General Tapioca. When I sketched this he was stretched out for a snooze after a long afternoon of driving us nutty!

67-2188 – Moving target

Here is a very quick sketch of the newest member of our family “General Tapioca”. There is part of another drawing in this one – he doesn’t stay still for long, even when he’s sleeping. He’s the younger brother of Captain Haddock…so at the moment he looks like a “mini me” version of him! They are not quite friends yet, but getting there.

2145 – His toy my fun

I’ve been meaning to sketch this for some time, but needed to be in the right frame of mind because it’s quite a challenge to draw. This is one of our cats toys – and one he actually plays with. He bats the balls and they go round and round – though he somehow managed to get the one on the bottom layer out.

2141 – Companion

I am skipping ahead one day to post this because it’s international cat day today. This is our Siamese cat Captain Haddock. he’s not a lap cat, but prefers to be around you, so he always sits on the couch when I do and sleeps on the end of the bed. This sketch didn’t turn out at all like I wanted…his head is a lot bigger of course! For me every day is a cat day!

2076 – Catching the cat

I haven’t sketched Captain Haddock (that’s the name of our cat) very much, as he doesn’t stay still for long. However this is one of his favourite spots (tucked down on the back of the couch) and I managed capture a quick and simple outline before he moved!

2024 – The things we do for our cat

We bought our cat this water fountain – the idea being that there is a constant re-circulation, filtration and trickle of water, that cats prefer to drink compared to still water. Of course he is not interested in it at all and still prefers to drink water that spills on the floor when we water the plants! So now we just have this little fountain the corner of the living room, with a constant sound of trickling water, that makes you feel like you need to pee!

2007 – Weeks of meds

After taking our cat (Captain Haddock) to the vet we found he has a faint trace of Feline Parvovirus, so we were given a whole host of meds to give him. He won’t let us give them to him directly but thankfully he is eating again – and we are putting the meds in the food. We are giving him a special mix of chicken, wet cat food, kibble and high protein powder and he’s gobbling it up. Perhaps he was faking his illness to get special treatment, haha!

2006 – A bit poorly

Our cat seems to have fallen ill and is off his food again (when normally he eats like a horse). He’s been spending his day lolling around lethargically. That does make him easier to sketch, but it looks like we’ll be taking him to the vet tomorrow.
