87-2699 – Serendra

Here is the second sketch I did on Sunday 12th May, when my wife and I cycled to Market Market!, to do a bit of shopping (and sketching). This is a view from Serendra (described as a ‘modern complex featuring a variety of shops & restaurants with condos above them’ on one website), looking down the BGC High Street – yet another shopping area. I’ve sketched these decorative street lights before (see post 995 in February 2019), when I said they look like pairs of people hugging or bowing.

85-2658 – Foliage and security

Here is my last sketch from our impromptu sketching on Sunday 14th April in BGC. This is another view from outside the Texas Roadhouse restaurant (on Bonifacio South Street), looking towards the towers I had sketched earlier. This time I focussed on the trees, plus there are two security guys who were hovering around (but not bothering us). I did the watercolour later, but I think the colour got a bit too intense and bright!

85-2657 – Shine from within: Daniel de La Cruz

After sketching outside the Maybank Performing Arts Theatre last Sunday 14th April in BGC, and some lunch, our little sketching group moved to a different area outside Texas Roadhouse restaurant (on Bonifacio South Street). In this little stretch of pedestrianised road there are two artworks by Daniel de La Cruz, which according to one website redirect “our attention to the source of life-giving human expressions”. This figure (which I drew from the back) is playing a violin and standing on the apex of a cube. The other piece seems to be two children playing (also on the apex of a cube).

85-2656 – More and more towers

I did quite a few sketches on Sunday 14th April in BGC. Unsurprisingly I ended up doing quite a few of the towers as the dominate the place. My friend @the_uban_sketcher (I now understand means Uban means grey or white hair in Tagalog… very witty) said that this one looks good in black and white, so I scanned this before I added the colour at home.

85-2655 – BGC towers

Here is the second sketch I did on Sunday 14th April when I met up in BGC with some friends for a day of impromptu sketching. This is another view from outside the Maybank Performing Arts Theatre. BGC (Bonifacio Global City) used to have more open spaces and parks but is rapidly filling up with glass towers.

85-2654 – Maybank performing arts

On Sunday 14th April I met up in BGC with some friends for a day of impromptu sketching. We met up at the Maybank Performing Arts Theatre and started by sketching this sculpture that is outside. Try as I might I couldn’t find a thing about what it’s called or who the artist is.

2113 – Metal trees

This sketch was done in Bonifacio Global City when we went into town for a nice meal out (at a place called Wholesome Table). There are so many interesting things to sketch there – I’ve never seen these features before (they look like the leaves of a banana tree).

2046 – Track 30th

On Sunday I joined #UskQuezonCity and #uskpinamalayan for a sketch-walk in a park called Track 30th in Bonifacio Global City. This was the first sketch I did – the wooden sculpture looks like it’s made of old telegraph poles.

1784 – Diversi-team – Juan Sajid

On Thursday I was in Bonifacio Global City for a check up. Walking back to get a taxi I passed this sculpture that I have seen several times before …I’ve always wanted to sketch it. It took a fair bit of searching on the internet to find that it is called Diversi-Team and is by Juan Sajid. The office building behind it is called Net Quad. This was a very quick sketch so it has a kind of partly done feel.
