This little table is the nicest piece of furniture in the apartment I am staying in.. I was trying hard to get the feel of the rugged wooden surface. Maybe a bit too hard…can’t get away from this heavy style at the moment.

Here is another sketch for the #PantryArtProject – some delicious oat milk. At home we can only buy soy milk or cows milk (unless you have buckets of money), so I was interested to try this. I found it has a nice creamy texture and is great to drink by itself. I drink more non-dairy milks these days because of the impact the dairy industry has on the environment. But I don’t think I’d drink almond milk – I understand (though I may be wrong) that it has very very little almond in it (it’s mostly water) and that a single glass requires vast amounts of water to produce (74 litres!). The oat on the other hand can grow almost anywhere…hence the mighty oat.

I sketched this after a long weekend of working instead of relaxing…just bits and bobs that I carry around for charging up devices…and there are some headphones in there too (always tangled up despite using a little rubber thing to wrap the cable around).

Here is another sketch for the #PantryArtProject. I am used to Asian eggplants – much slimmer and longer….the ones here are huge. I have got into the habit of calling them eggplants too…though it’s been mentioned a few times when I am in the UK that I have become Americanised as I should be calling them aubergines.

I thought I’d try a slightly different approach in this one – on a tired Friday evening. I started with watercolour pencils and only added a bit of ink later. I’ve got a bit stuck in my ways…but maybe I should stay stuck.

I sketched this while winding down in the evening, trying to summon up some energy to do some work on another project – but failing. The furniture here is that perfect dirt colour – so nondescript that you’d never know if it was dirty.

I was listening to a Dhamma talk again while I drew this – and the main things I picked up were to learn from past successes not failures…and to carry the good things forward. Why this sketch ended up wonky on the page, I don’t know…but I just went with it. My father hated peanut butter – but I love the stuff, especially in a sandwich with banana!

My fridge is effectively my pantry – so this is another one for the #PantryArtProject – just a quick sketch in the evening. I prefer to buy milk in big tubs and even more prefer to buy soya or oat milk but this is all I can get from the corner shop here. At least these days, tetra packs can be recycled.
