1913 – Getting nativity ready

On Sunday I went out to sketch, planning to chat on line at the same time, with my friend @TheArtofBeingPresent. I quickly came across some of the staff of the development where we live, cleaning up these large nativity figures – perfect subject. I had to sketch quickly though, because they were moving them – thats my excuse for the sketch being a bit wobbly. Behind the figure of baby Jesus is a camel – or at least its backend.

1912 – After many years

We have had this little candle (actually a row of candles joined together I guess) for so long that I can’t remember where it came from. The other day I finally decided to light them – aiming to keep flies away from the table when we were having home-made waffles for breakfast. The candle is sitting on a plastic tray that is designed to look like a bamboo leaf.

1910 – Mighty bright

Sticking with my habit of drawing whatever is in front of me, my wife’s book light happened to be laying on the table when I sat down to draw last night.…so naturally I sketched it. Not my best effort but it does help to do a little doodle each day.

1909 – Street cravings

On Wednesday I took my wife to the dentist. While she was in the chair I found a little place for a coffee in the lobby area. This guy sat down right in front of me soon after I began, so I made him part of the drawing.

1908 – Mad fruit

The other day we went mad and bought a bit too much fruit – and in this sketch you can only see some of it (as by the time I drew this we had already eaten a bunch of grapes). I do love the tropical fruits you can get here – eating them and drawing them!

1906 – Encouragement

This is a very quick sketch of some flowers I bought for my wife last week, when she needed a little boost of her spirits. The pink flowers are carnations I think. The little flowers are mean to be tiny daisies and were tricky to draw.

1905 – All back on at Nuvali Conti’s

Today we went out trail biking on our mountain bikes – I am going to be suffering tomorrow. Afterwards we went and had a nice lunch at Conti’s, including a lovely slice of cake (with lashings of cream and meringue) …and put back on all the calories we had burnt off cycling (and probably more!).
