Here is another sketch of one of our little Christmas decorations. We’ve had this little candle for years, but have never got round to lighting it up. It seems such a shame to melt the snowman.

1600 – Beer angel
Here is another sketch of one of our oddball pieces of Christmas decor. Several years ago we were making our own decorations and this is one of two angels we made from old beer cans and a wine cork. It even has a little halo made from sparkly craft wire.

1599 – Norwegian moose (faceless)
I am doing a few sketches of our eclectic mix of Christmas decorations now – mostly we can’t remember where they came from, including this one which seems to be a Norwegian moose. While I was sketching it, I also realised that it doesn’t have any eyes!

1597 – Oregano pesto
Last night we ate some of the vast amount of oregano we had growing, making a simple pesto sauce with garlic, nuts and olive oil. It turns out, though that it’s not exactly Italian oregano – instead it’s called Indian Borage, Spanish Thyme, Mexican Mint or Cuban Oregano! Still tasted great though. These are a few of the leaves that we had left over.

1596 – Closed case
Sometimes the simplest of subjects brings the most satisfaction. My only problem in painting this was that the paints were inside the case…so I had to use my little travel kit and some ink instead.

Here is another evening sketch of our coffee table. We don’t have to use candles often…we are lucky that power cuts are infrequent at the moment…so I can’t remember why this one has been sitting on our coffee table for so long.

1594 – Pan on the block
I did this sketch standing up, as quickly as possible, after having had dinner and before a late night (work) Zoom meeting. Sometimes faster is better, but I should also set aside some special time for sketching at leisure!

1593 – Impossible subject
This sketch from the weekend was a bit of disaster – but I promised myself I would post everything I draw…so here goes. This is supposed to be a cloth bag on the couch…I definitely need to practice my drapery. It looked like a roast chicken!
