I learned from someone else’s blog that it’s not so smart to draw our loved ones unless we want to deal with their disappointment, which is likely. That your wife also draws hopefully makes her a more accepting and forgiving model.
Glad you’re feeling better. It often happens when we portray people we love that it’s difficult to get the likeness that expresses how we feel and who they are — when you know the person so well — and yet it’s also good to make those drawings — they really extend the reach — they offer such good challenge. And this above is a wonderful drawing even if it’s not a likeness.
