Today I tried drawing only with oil pastels and pencil – just to challenge myself. This is of some trees, drawn while I was having a cup of coffee.

the composition is really intriguing — it zig zags throughout — landing on an object then zagging to another all the way up to — I was going to say the building at the top, but actually it zags again to the tree framing the upper left side of the paper — it’s wonderful, very dynamic — the play between blues and orange also contributes to the energy
Thanks for your thoughts Aletha. It’s so interesting to see it through someone else’s eyes – you’ve seen things that I hadn’t noticed!
I know what you mean. There’s always a lot going on in a drawing. Sometimes it can be amazing the things we noticed that we didn’t notice that we noticed!
I love this! That lamp really makes the drawing “sit down”, great composition! fun to challenge ourselves, isn’t it?
Thanks Margaret. Yes, a challenge is good – trying not to get stuck in my ways
lol….we artists do get stuck now and then! 🙂
