1162 – Rainy day

Before coming to TCI this time around I bought some galoshes…or what the packet says are “stylish rainshoe covers”. Stylish they are not – I look like an idiot with black plastic bags on my feet. However they did work when it rained heavily the other day and I had to almost wade into work – the paths and roads round here flood very quickly. Crossing the road is like fording a river. I also wore my big green raincoat…and it was so sweaty I think I got wetter than I would have if I’d walked in the rain. So that was my trip to and from work last Wednesday!

I haven’t been using this exercise bike as much as I should…I am not sure drawing it will encourage me, but its an interesting thing to sketch anyway. Perhaps I should try cycling and sketching at the same time!

Here is an evening sketch in my apartment – and of course my hat on a coat hook in the background. The walls are actually all a nondescript cream colour, but when the light is right…well my imagination takes over.

1157 – Evening entertainment

Sometimes when you get home from work, the only way to relax is a cold beer…for me, along with that comes yet another drawing of a beer bottle (I had finished the beer by the time I drew this). This beer is called “I soon reach” – according to the label this is a reference to Turks and Caicos island time – meaning when you are expecting to meet someone, chase them up and they say this, they could be just around the corner or just setting sail from another island en route to you!

1155 – Car outside in the sunset

My neighbour parked their car right outside the window of my apartment…so I took this as a good opportunity to sketch it. Somehow it seems more squashed in my drawing than in real life. As I drew it the sun was sinking and the colours of the sunset were reflected in the shiny paintwork.

The only room with AC in my apartment is the bedroom – these days I have been spending more and more time there as it’s getting so hot (better WiFi signal too). It was inevitable that I would do a sketch of what I can see, so here it is.
