During my trip back home last week (8th Oct) I had a few hours wait in Singapore, so of course I took the opportunity to do a sketch (in ink, watercolour and watercolour pencil). These are the glass screens leading into the departure gate area.

Day 185 – Bedside table
Here is the bedside table in my hotel room in Dhaka – I was going for a simple colorful and geometric style in this one. I did this in ink, watercolour and watercolour pencils.
Day 184 – Spotlights on pictures
Today I am sharing the last few sketches I did in Dhaka…I managed to keep up doing a drawing each day, I was just too busy to publish them. This one (in ink and watercolour pencil) I did while waiting for my dinner – of the wall in the restaurant where they had a nice display of pictures. I was more interested in the shadows cast by the spotlights though.
Day 181 – Room version 3
New hotel room, new sketch (watercolour, ink and watercolour pencils. This is version three because I drew it several times before I was satisfied….but I still think something is lacking!
Day 175 to 178 – In Dhaka
Here are my sketches done so far while I have been traveling and working here in Bangladesh. Not very clear scans (done with a phone). Hoping to get outside at some point but work doesn’t give me much chance.
Day 175 – Group 4
Sketched while at the airport on 24-Sep, on my way here, with ink and a little water added later.
Day 176 – Hotel room
TV, fridge and jacket on a chair done in watercolor and chalk pastel on 25-Sep.
Day 177 – Fountain in lobby
Actually this fountain is in the restaurant – the lobby is in the background. The fountain is not functioning and seems our of place in the middle of the room. I did this on 26-Sep while waiting for my dinner, in watercolour and ink.
Day 178 – Bathroom tiles
Lastly here is the sketch I did this evening – looking into the bathroom from my hotel room. This was done in watercolour, ink and watercolour pencils.
Day 173 – Shoe rack and walkalator
Finally got out today…but ended up in the mall again. When I stopped for a breather and drew this view in watercolour and ink I was trying to get the feel of the big blank abstract shapes of the walls and sloping ceiling, but in the end it all looks rather dull.
Day 172 – Night lights
Tonight just time for a quick doodle (in ink, watercolour and watercolour pencil) of the lights in the street outside my daughters bedroom. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll have more time and get out a bit – even if I do enjoy just drawing views around the house!
Day 170 – Waiting for spaghetti to cook
My work load is now increasing so unfortunately my time for sketching is getting squeezed. To overcome this today I stood and sketched (using a Uni Pin pen) while I waited for the spaghetti to cook (and coloured it with watercolour later). On the chopping board is coriander and in the frying pan are mushrooms and onions….yummy!
Day 169 – Two views of the same thing
This morning, May (my beloved wife) started drawing first…so I decided to draw the same view (which I’ve done before several times). She has a different more precise, detailed and accurate style than me – plus she’s learning to use ink do hatching. I did mine in ink, watercolour and watercolour pencils as usual. Here is hers (really good I think – blurry part at the top is due to the scanner)…
…not for comparison, but just to see different approaches to the same subject.
