41-1327 – On the move at last

On Sunday I took a short trip to Grand Turk (even though it is south of Providenciales, they say going ‘up’ to Grand Turk here…I guess because that is where the capital is?). Anyway it was nice to be going to a different island for a change. This sketch is not of the plane I was on….for my flight we took a tiny turboprop plane, with a little door so low that I brained myself on the way in.

41-1326 – Bitten

I got bitten by a huge yellow wasp-like insect when hanging up the laundry last Saturday (it drew blood so bitten is more accurate than stung). It hurt like I’d had a red hot needle jabbed into my foot. Luckily by the time I drew this the swelling had gone down.

41-1322 – Letting go of fear

As you might tell by the title I was listening to a Dhamma talk while I drew this in the morning before I headed off to work. Something to get me going in the mornings (as well as sketching)! This is what I call my ‘bedside suitcase’…there is a chest of drawers on the other side of the room, but I prefer a lamp next to my bed…so this is my solution!

41-1320 – Ruby red

Here is another sketch for the #PantryArtProject – an empty bottle of grapefruit juice – the type that has that unnatural pink colour and is also too sweet. I much prefer the tangier version we can buy at home. I really admire people who can sketch transparent things like bottles and glasses…somehow my attempts look to heavy. This one seemed to get a bit elongated too!
