We made another trip down south to see beach land which we might buy, this time in Sta. Elena. We set off a bit late and had a gruelling 8 hour drive and skipped lunch to make it to the site before it got dark. Instead of driving on to stay in Daet we found a little hotel in town called “Jars”. This is their pool which I sketched the morning after. There were odd shaped dolphins on the bottom of the pool – all head and tail with no body in the middle!

I only had time to do one sketch in the morning before we left Casa Anahao. This one took me quite a long while. On the right are some of the many beautiful orchids that festooned the place).

At last I got outside – not far, but at least I got some fresh air. While I sketched this I listened to an Ajahn Brahm Podcast who was saying that when you pause or stop and meditate, the greens are richer. The pool was empty at first but by the time I finished it was full of noisy kids…I haven’t been swimming for ages because of blocked and infected ears.

Here is a sketch of the resort we stayed overnight in for our big family get-together on Christmas Day. According to the owners blurb on Facebook the resort is a “7 hectare multi-functional resort at the foot of Mt. Malarayat for recreation, peace and relaxation”, near Lipa City. We rented a house big enough for all of us (30 plus these days), which included this pool. It was a bit rainy so I don’t think anyone went swimming until Boxing Day.
