1960 – Isolation day 10

Today I joined my friend @TheArtofBeingPresent for a little on line sketching. I opted to draw this pair of swimming goggles – which turned out to be harder than I thought. Tomorrow I will have done my 10 days in isolation and will be getting tested in the hope that there is no Covid left in me.

1724 – Pool time

On Saturday I had a Zoom sketching session scheduled with my friend @TheArtofBeingPresent but unfortunately he got the day wrong. Anyway there was no loss for me as it got me outside to sketch. This is a scene I’ve sketched at least three times before – in 2016 and 2017. I think I’ve got better at it…but more conventional too.

1704 – Pool tree car

Sunday was Zoom sketching day again with my online friend #TheArtofBeingPresent. I take our sessions as encouragement to get out of the house, at least as far as our common garden and swimming pool – though with the pandemic still raging here I’m not going any further. Anyway here is the sketch I did – another drawing of one of the swimming pools, done while I sat in the shade of a cabana.

1697 – The brightest time of day

Last Saturday I joined my Zoom sketching friend @TheArtofBeingPresent again. As it was noon but I wanted to sketch outside, I sat in the shade of our common ‘clubhouse’ and sketched this view of one of the swimming pools. In the foreground on the right is the remains of a bridge crossing the pool…the wooden base and railings have all rotted away as have many of the balustrades around the clubhouse. Some major maintenance work is needed!

1456 – Loitering by the pool

Our shared pool is finally open – though you have to book in advance to use it and very few people can use it at one time. Also the security guards are now less strict about people hanging about getting some fresh air outside. I took that as an opportunity to get out and sketch two of my favourite subjects – trees and a swimming pool.

1214 – Day off

I was having a lazy day off on Friday – because its national youth day (a day to celebrate and honour the youth of TCI). I celebrated by having a swim, sketching and lazing by the pool, reading a book and with a beer of course.

1205 – Down by the pool

Sitting outside my front door, this is the view I have down to the swimming pool. When I rented this place the photos fooled me into thinking I could do laps. The fact is the pool is only about 1 stroke long! Still, I will have a dip to cool off sometime.
