2176 – 14,000 steps

On Sunday my daughter and I spent hours wandering around the shops trying to buy a pair of aqua shoes. Finally (after 14,000 steps according to my watch) we found a small enough pair at Speedo…which turned out to be mislabelled. I went back again on Monday to change them for the next size down…but they didn’t have them, so I had to go to another mall! Phew.

2165 – For the cobbler

My daughter brought her old converse shoes back to the Philippines with her. They are almost 5 years old and a bit worn out – so my wife volunteered to take them to the shoe repair guy at the market near her office. This sketch was done before they were repaired. As usual (he’s repaired several of my pairs of shoes) he did a great job of restoring them.

2136 – Bringing the beach home

Here is the first sketch I did after our little weekend break down to the coast. I was still thinking of the beach, so I decided to sketch my beach shoes. These are little booties ideal for snorkelling in rocky and coral areas, where it would be easy to cut your feet.

1849 – Whose shoes?

I have seen some of my favourite sketchers, drawing their collection of shoes….I only have a few pairs and have drawn them all before, so I am drawing someone else’s. Apparently these shoes were left behind by our younger daughter before she went to the UK. No doubt we paid a fortune for them when they were new. Since then my wife has been occasionally wearing them…with mismatched laces.

1702 – Black boots

These are actually walking shoes – but boots came into my head when I was sketching. They are Columbia Omni Grip – nice and comfy and waterproof too. Sadly since I bought them we haven’t done a lot of walking…you’d think that walking in the mountains would be a pandemic safe thing to do but apparently most of the small day trek places are closed.

1672 – Evening walk

I sketched these shoes (my wife’s) after we had an evening walk and while listening to a podcast by Adam Buxton – he was interviewing Torvill and Dean (famous UK skaters) and talking about how his dog Rosie is getting better. I do enjoy his podcasts – very easy going and pleasantly silly and amusing. Just what is needed during these difficult times.

1496 – Shoe graveyard

I’ve been meaning to sketch this for some time – today I was finally allowed in my daughters bedroom for a while. This is the shoe rack (the pocket type) that she has hanging by the door. Most of these shoes (actually mostly trainers or Converse) look a bit sad and worn out, but I am told that’s not the case.
