This is my last painting from our little holiday in Bohol. I drew this at Bohol Beach Club, the resort next door to ours, where we ate dinner and lunch a few times (because there was no veggie food in the place we stayed in). The sea is a brilliant turquoise blue and the sand a blinding coral white – a really beautiful spot.

Here is another one of my beach sketches from the weekend – this time of a group of ladies who were sitting on a little bench watching the surfers. I still haven’t quite got the knack of drawing people quickly (even though I do a lot of life drawing), but I am trying!

Here is another sketch done during out family holiday at Baler. Although the beach is very long, most people were crowded around the entrance area where there are guys offering surfing lessons and lots of little food stands.

Sabang beach at Baler is famous for surfing, so a few of the family had some quick lessons – including my daughter who did pretty well for a beginner. Here are some of the family watching and videoing the surfers.

This is the view I have out of my hotel window – I sketched this in ink and watercolour just as the sun was going down. There is nothing special about the buildings but they really do glow in the evenings.

Yesterday I took a nice long walk and without intending to ended up at Zeitunay Bay and marina. There was a lot to draw there – although the whole time I drew (sitting on the edge of the boardwalk because I got turfed off the bollard I was sitting on) I was nervous about dropping all my sketching kit into the sea!

On Sunday I walked down to the coast and sat in a cafe to have a fresh orange juice and paint this beautiful view (in watercolour, ink and pencil). I think the rocks are actually called the Pigeon rocks.

This is the last sketch I did (in ink, watercolour and watercolour pencils) while we were on our little holiday in Laiya – done on the morning of Tue-25 when we left. The strange trunk-like thing with the orange top is a rolled up beach umbrella!
