107-3188 – Two from Faber-Castell

I did this in the evening I got home from a failed attempt at going to life drawing with #PensNBrushes. Turns out it was cancelled (like so much had been around the time, because of the endless rain). Luckily I wasn’t the only twit who showed up and waited outside the venue – there were about 5 of us who didn’t get a message about the cancellation…plus the sponsors! Kindly the guys there gave the 5 of us some give-aways…the two pens are in this pot.

103-3103-10 – Life drawing – fisherman

2 mins

Here are some more of the sketches I did at the @PensNBrushesArt life drawing session on 3 May. These are the ones of the male model. I found it difficult to draw him because he wasn’t great at staying still and because of the added accessories (hat, fishing net and water gourds), which I find a bit distracting. Even so the last sketch in this batch (done in 20 minutes) was the one I was most satisfied with over the whole session.

101-3038-44 – Life drawing female model

This is the second batch of sketches I did at the #PensNBrushes life drawing session on 15 March. I was more satisfied with these and I thought the model held the poses better, compared to the male model. I used #Derwent #WatercolourPencils and some ink. As before we started with 2 minute poses and worked our way up to 20 minutes for the last one. I have struggled with the #Strathmore (ready cut 500 series hot press) paper I am using – getting some unwanted ‘blooms’ which I don’t expect from such expensive paper.

100-3031-7 – PensNBrushes life drawing

After what feels like a long gap, I joined #PensNBrushes for a life drawing class on 15 March (the last session I joined was in June 2024 (see post No.89-2742-43). Here are the sketches I did of the first (male) model – I can’t say I was really satisfied with any of these. I started with a #Derwent water soluble graphite pencil (which promptly broke when I was doing my first sketch), then switched to using #WatercolourPencils and some ink. I’ve noted on each drawing how much time we had – but we started with 2 minute poses and worked our way up to 20 minutes for the last one.

86-2675-76 – Couples

Here are the last two sketches I did at the @PensNBrushesArt life drawing session on Friday 19th April. The two models put on some headgear (kind of crowns made from sticks and dried plants) and did some 20 minute couples poses. These were done using a mixture of #Derwent water soluble graphite sketching pencils and watercolour pencils, watercolour and ink. The last one is the sketch I was most satisfied with from the whole session.

Here are some more sketches I did at the @PensNBrushesArt life drawing session on Friday 19th April. These poses were 2 minutes each and were done using #Derwent sketching pencils. I didn’t catch the name of the model, but think I may have drawn her before.
