When I told my daughter I was going out to sketch yesterday she commented that I’d be drawing the swimming pool for the umpteenth time….so I deliberately didn’t. This is the entrance to the area where we live. The lower-rise apartment blocks are dominated by the massive high rise buildings. I’ve avoided drawing this before because I don’t enjoy the repetitive windows.

I haven’t posted in a while because I’ve been too busy with work. I have been sketching…though I think I’ve missed a few days. Here is the view from my hotel window – the part of Hanoi I am in is a fascinating mix of old and new.

This drawing is of Grace Residences – a relatively new block of apartments built by SMDC (SM Dev Corp) in Taguig. This is just a small portion of a massive development of ugly brutal buildings….where their idea of decoration is just an enormous grey stripe! Not graceful at all. I did this in Uniball pen, watercolour, chalk pastels, graphite stick and acrylic ink.
