I drew this while watching my daughter at her gym classes. I’ve drawn this many times, but this time I ended up with a light and almost pastel colour scheme using my watercolour pencils.

I never tire of sketching at the place where my daughter does gym classes…I like the abstract quality of the scene and the bright colours. This one is devoid of any kids though!

Following my usual routine here is my sketch of people watching their children at gymastics classes. This is always good practice for drawing people – but usually only profiles and the backs of heads.

Back to my usual routine for a while – sketching in watercolour and ink while I watch my daughter do her gymastics…she’s not in this one though. I had only a little time to draw this and just quickly drew whichever gymnast was in front of me – the same one appears several times over.

I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve sketched while my daughter does gymnastics – there is always plenty to see though and the shapes and colours of the mats and equipment always look great. I did this in my usual ink, water-colour and water-colour pencils.
