936 – Elephant in Lavenham

Here are a few peculiar things you can see outside a furniture shop (Marshbeck Interiors) opposite where my parents live. I’ve these passed several times and couldn’t resist sketching them. There is an elephant that seems to be made of driftwood and two huge chairs, one which straddles a low wall. I guess the chairs are there as a sign for the shop…as for the elephant, I am not sure!

#456 – Just a chair

Another late night sketch – the title speaks for itself. I tried out a new ‘dagger’ paint brush on this one – but the surface of the sketchbook doesn’t like much working…I thinking it’s called ‘pilling’.

#373 – Black and white

Work has taken over my time for a while, so I haven’t posted in ages – but I’ve still been finding the odd moment to draw. This is one of my favourite interior scenes (just the table and a few chairs) – I like the intensity and texture I can get mixing ink, watercolour and watercolour pencils, plus the abstract quality. If only I could get this when I draw outside.
