78-2486 – New yeast

The next #UskQuezonCity prompt for #Sketchtober2023 was ‘bread’ (for Day 6) and although I have recently draw the results of my bread making, I didn’t hesitate to draw this new loaf. After a few failures (rock hard or doughy loaves) I bought some new yeast and this was the solution. This loaf (the Kenwood recipe calls it ‘rustic white’) came out perfectly.

2011 – Variegated

Here is a sketch I did out in our shared clubhouse area yesterday, while chatting on line to my sketching friend @TheArtofBeingPresent. I first thought I would just sketch the plant, but on looking more closely I realised I had never noticed the floor tiles before, so incorporated some of those too. I know what variegated means, but I confess I had to look it up to get the spelling right….I’ve always been a disaster when it comes to spelling…thank goodness for spellcheck!

1995 – Back to malling

Last week I visited SM Aura (one of the posh malls near us), to sort out a new plan for my phone (which took hours). I sketched this while I had a coffee and snack for lunch. Try as I might I can never get the Starbucks logo right – this time she looks more like a bloke. Malling is a Filipino invented verb meaning to go to a shopping mall (usually they are air conditioned) and while away the hours strolling about but not buying much. Apparently the Philippines has three of the world’s 10 largest shopping malls.
