42-1354 – Bougainvillea and palm

This is my first sketch in my new sketchbook – lovely heavy paper, but as always it will take a little time to get used to the change. On Fridays we finish work at 4pm and it only takes me 20 minutes to get home, so I jumped at the chance to sketch this view from my apartment. Even so, the light was fading fast as I finished.

1213 – Plastic flowers

Last Thursday I thought I was going to fall asleep, but then I remembered I wanted to sketch these flowers. Also a commenter on Facebook reminded me that this is a daily journal…so I can’t keep missing days – even if I did have an exhausting day stretching my mind around statistics and regression analysis! In case its not clear the flowers are reflected in both a mirror and the table.

1026 – Twenty years

It’s been 20 years since we got married (last Wednesday 27). I think asters are the traditional flower for a 20th anniversary but the flower sellers could only show me sad looking little daisy-like flowers when I asked. So instead I bought these gorgeous roses for my wife. Difficult to draw but wonderful to look at and smell!

953 – More roses in reflection

Here is another evening sketch. My dad bought my mum some more roses…a perfect sketching subject. On top of the cabinet is a little DVD player, which may have seemed fancy a few years ago but these days seems rather antiquated when so many people stream movies.
