73-2378 – Blue flowers

This is yet another vase of plastic flowers from our landlady’s apartment. I think there may even be one more somewhere. Real flowers are nice of course, but the plastic or silk ones are still fun to draw.

73-2376 – Plastic flowers

Here is another sketch of some of the many vases of plastic flowers that our landlady has around our apartment. These ones are probably actually some kind of silk and they are that really-difficult-to-paint pale yellow colour.

69-2284 – Flowers

I tried something different for this sketch. I started with my new watercolour marker pens, splashed on a bit of water, drew a few lines with some watercolour pencils and finished off with some ink. These were flowers my wife brought back from attending a wedding the other day – and I can’t resist sketching flowers.

1906 – Encouragement

This is a very quick sketch of some flowers I bought for my wife last week, when she needed a little boost of her spirits. The pink flowers are carnations I think. The little flowers are mean to be tiny daisies and were tricky to draw.

1669 – Happy Mother’s Day

Our sweet daughters were kind enough to send this bunch of flowers to my wife last Sunday, so the next day I sketched them. The flowers were for UK Mother’s Day…the Philippines has another Mother’s Day which I think follows the US date…so my wife get’s two celebrations each year. I think there is only one international Father’s Day though….dang!

1648 – White roses

Most years I buy flowers for my wife on Valentine’s Day – we bought these together in Baguio and brought them home. I had to sketch them before they died. They were difficult to paint too as they were white, with just a hint of pale green/yellow.

1420 – A rose

The #Melogallery #HomeboundSketching prompt for 15th May was “flowers”. As I am restricted to sketching in the evening (I am lucky to have work during the day) I couldn’t draw any real plants, so instead sketched this silk rose, which I think one of our daughters bought one Valentine’s Day years ago. The brown vase is another relic – an odd shaped piece of pottery I picked up from the venue where I did life drawing during my university years.
