1078 – Market in evening

This sketch was done outside Market Market! (the local mall) waiting for my wife so we could go and buy new glasses together. In this area they always have little booths set up with people hawking their wares over the electronic equivalent of a megaphone. Usually the stalls seems to be selling what look like cheap knock-offs. The nicest part of this spot is the curvy seats decorated with broken tiles…difficult to paint though!

953 – More roses in reflection

Here is another evening sketch. My dad bought my mum some more roses…a perfect sketching subject. On top of the cabinet is a little DVD player, which may have seemed fancy a few years ago but these days seems rather antiquated when so many people stream movies.

946 – Two horses by the fire

Over last weekend I went down to the west of the UK to visit some friends. The weather was really foul on Saturday – blowing a gale, rainy and cold. So instead of going out we sat by the fire, watched Strictly Come Dancing, ate dinner and drank G&T’s. Of course I didn’t concentrate on Strictly but sketched instead. My friends have two horses stabled nearby, but in this drawing you can see the legs of some cast metal ones.

940 – Pictures in mirror

We went out to the Lavenham fair on Saturday but it was too crowded (and cold) to sketch, so instead here is another evening sketch of another corner of my parents house. In the picture are my niece Erin with her brother Osian.

887 – Orange things

Sometimes it just seems obvious what to sketch in the evening – I couldn’t help noticing that all these things on the coffee table were orange or yellow-orange…even the picture of Gandhi on his autobiography! The papaya comes from the organic market that we shop at on Sunday mornings – huge and very sweet.
