98-2956 – Two hour car wash

I started this sketch when we took our car to the car wash (before having lunch with some friends in Las Pinas). We were late to our meet up because the queue and the washers took forever – in fact I could have done more sketches. I seem to be sketching the backside of cars a lot these days!

95-2885 – Drive

This sketch was done in the morning after our night at the memorial park. The prompt for Day 18 of #Inktober2024 was “drive” so this seemed an appropriate subject. I had planned to do more to this sketch (like paint in the greenery)…but in the end thought it was finished enough!

85-2652 – Two for one

The other day my sister commented that the only time I go out of the house is to sketch or to get some car maintenance done…and even then I do a sketch as well. This sketch bears out the truth in that. On Saturday 13th we went out to get new bulbs put in the car headlights and get a flat tyre on my wife’s bike fixed. After that, when we took the car for a wash her bike was on the rack on the back, so that also got a well deserved wash.

82-2587 – 1959 Cadillac Sedan DeVille

On Sunday last weekend we had the opening of the #UrbanSketchersQuezonCity Pride at 5: Fifth Anniversary Exhibition at the main exhibition hall of the Presidential Car Museum, Quezon Memorial Circle (running until March 18). After the opening I drew this (I can’t resist visiting the museum without sketching at least one car!). The car displayed is similar to the one that Diosdado Macapagal (who served as the ninth President of the Philippines from 1961 to 1965) reserved for state guests and occasions. To me it looks like Batmans car!

81-2560 – Sausage car

On our journey back to Manila, we stayed one night on Mactan Island (where the airport in Cebu is), in an out of the way, tiny little AirBnb house. My wife took the opportunity to meet with some colleagues on the mainland…and I went to pick her up in the evening. I did this sketch while waiting for her in a car park. I enjoy drawing cars, but this time struggled to get the proportion right and it ended up looking a bit sausage-like!

72-2341 – Burnt orange car

Here is a sketch that I did while chatting to my sketching friend @TheArtofBeingPresent – and that has been languishing in my sketchbook partly completed, for weeks. I think I have sketched this car before, but I still enjoyed trying to capture the reflections and shadows.
