I am back in Turks and Caicos and here is my first sketch done in the new apartment I am staying in (yes, I stay in a different place each time I come). In the centre of the living room is a little coffee table with plastic flowers and a clock…I guess the air-freshener is meant to provide the artificial scent?

Dear airlines, when will you tire of beige? I am looking forward to flying one day on a colourful airline. On my way to TCI the flight from Antigua to Providenciales was almost empty – most passengers from the UK having got off. So (given that the movie choice was a bit sparse) a sketch was in order.

This is the last sketch I did in TCI – at the airport on my way home. I was sketching quickly trying to capture the crowds, so my lines are a bit looser than normal.

I should have been sleeping instead of sketching this, but for a change I was feeling wide awake in the evening. Perhaps it was because I had just worked for a few hours instead of slumping in front of the TV…my mind couldn’t rest. It could have been the coffee also. anyway this is where I worked…there is no desk where I am staying so I have to squat awkwardly in front of the coffee table.

On Sunday, having worked most of the weekend, I finally managed to get outside and do some sketching. I took a short walk to Blue Haven Marina, plonked myself near the jetty and quickly sketched this. It was getting dark so I had to be faster than usual….and then just as I was finishing it rained. I’d normally spend more time finishing a painting so this one has a half done feel! While I was drawing someone came and had a look – which is always nice.

I sketched this listening to Rivermaya while waiting for my dinner to cook. When I’m away from home I listen to Original Pilipino Music much more than usual – I must admit it makes me feel a little homesick though. This is a sketch of my teeny weeny kitchen – my landlady provided a rubbish bin that takes up most of the room!
