Here is my drawing from last night – of course I have painted this before, but it’s good to practice. I am struggling to get across the wispy curtains and the darkness outside, so I will keep trying!

#298 – Bar in Dar books
Last night I ate out at a nice little place called Dar Bistro & Books. It has great veggie food and a nice warm, cosy and arty atmosphere. I managed to squeeze in this ink and watercolour sketch while I was waiting for my dish of couscous.

#296 – Merry-go-round
Finally got out to sketch on Saturday – but despite the blue skies it was freezing cold so I rushed this a bit. I used watercolour and a Uni Pin pen for a change but still prefer water-soluble ink in my fountain pen. This scene is outside the cinema again – an interesting mix of modern and traditional architecture with a merry-go-round thrown in for good measure.

#295 – Room service
Last night I got soaked in the rain on the way back to my hotel – definitely not a night to go out to eat, so for a change I called up room service. Here is my watercolour and ink sketch of the dinner tray after I’d quickly demolished some pasta arrabbiata.

#293 – Old and new at cinema city
Here is another drawing I did on the weekend, while waiting to go into the cinema. The building on the left is ‘Cinema City, Beirut Souks‘ – I think the odd looking facade lights up at night….it was a struggle to draw it so the rest of the drawing ended up a bit hurried.

#292 – Bay at sunset
This is the view I have out of my hotel window – I sketched this in ink and watercolour just as the sun was going down. There is nothing special about the buildings but they really do glow in the evenings.
