69-2250 – Dress fitting

Today we went into Binondo (part of old Manila, also known as Chinatown) as my wife was getting fitted for a dress to wear to a wedding (she is going to be a sponsor). We also went shopping for some jewellery. I only had a few minutes to do the ink work for this – the fitting was very fast – so I added the colour at home from a photo.

2130 – All tree

Here is the last sketch I did with #UskQuezonCity at Philippine General Hospital last Sunday. This tree is on a bit of traffic island…surrounded by hard paving and roadways. Somehow it is doing well – I think it might be a banyan tree?

2129 – Nurses home PGH

Here is the third sketch I did at a sketch-walk with #UskQuezonCity last Sunday. I found an article on line saying that this building, which was designed by William Parsons and was built in 1911, was recently refurbished, but it didn’t look like that from where I was sitting.

1805 – Home with the cats again

Here is the first sketch I did back home after our holiday. Our cats were very well looked after by our niece…but they were glad to see us again I think. Sleeping in the middle of this bean bag has become a favourite spot for both of them.

1804 – VIP island hopping

Here is my last sketch from our holiday in El Nido. I really enjoyed drawing boats (locally those with outriggers are called Bangka) and beaches on our trip, so I decided to finish with a drawing on Corong-Corong beach. Many of these boats have been moored for a long time as tourism in El Nido has declined dramatically during the pandemic. In a few days we are about to go into another lock down, so we were really lucky to squeeze in our little holiday. Bye bye El Nido, see you again soon I hope.

1803 – Getting a medical certificate

On the last day of our holiday my wife had to pop into a local hospital to get a medical certificate in order to do some local travel when we got back home (Covid rules!). I accompanied her but wasn’t allowed in (Covid rules again), so I sat outside and did this quick sketch.
