I sketched this while half watching TV one evening – some of our collection of art themed books. This includes an ancient book called Artists Materials which my parents bought me when I was a teen as well as a ‘History of art from Giotto to Cézanne’…essential reading for my history of art course, in my last few years at school.

Here is a quick sketch I did while waiting to pick up our car from Honda after a long check up and multiple (expensive) repairs. These displays are in the front of the showroom. I added the colour when at home.

Here is my last sketch from my sketch-walk with #UskManila at Manila Metropolitan Theatre. I went for a slightly more splashy approach in this one – that’s the sculpture of eve again, above the reception. Ladies refers to the ladies bathrooms…which that door leads to, with “ladies” written out in fancy wrought iron-work, like all the balustrades in the theatre.

Here is another sketch from the #UskManila sketch-walk at the Manila Metropolitan Theatre. This is the sculpture at one end of the foyer….at the time I drew it I didn’t realise it was supposed to be Eve…should have been obvious seeing she’s holding an apple!

Here is my second sketch from the #UskManila sketch-walk at Manila Metropolitan Theatre. The two-storey lobby or foyer has bronze sculptures of Adam and Eve at each end (the one in my sketch is Adam), done by Italian artist Francesco Ricardo Monti. On the wall above is a reproduction of a mural by national artist Fernando Amorsolo which I think is called The History of Music (according to Wikipedia the original is in the GSIS Museum).

The first thing we did when we got back to the Philippines (apart from attend a wedding), was pick up my wife’s laptop from the Apple Service Centre. This is what I sketched while we waited. I should know better by now, but in this one I still didn’t manage to fit my subject on the page!

This is my first sketch on our trip to the UK for a holiday. The airline told us we should be at the airport four hours before departure – presumably because the queues at check in and immigration have been terrible recently. That meant we had to get up at 3am! Luckily it didn’t actually take us that long to get to the gate, so I had time to sketch. This lady had the right idea at that time in the morning.

Here is another sketch that was left unfinished in my sketchbook. I did this while I was at hospital for a checkup – and had to wait for my appointment. I remember is sitting in Starbucks, having a nice coffee, to draw this…especially as it is one of those rare sketches I was pleased with!
