94-2863 – Blue passport stupidity
The prompt for Day 7 of #Inktober2024 “Passport”. This is one of my first passports (issued in 1991) – after that I think all my passports were that EU burgundy colour. During Brexit going back to a blue/black coloured passport was cited as a way to reclaim sovereignty and tradition…but I think this was just a silly superficial distraction from the real impact that leaving the EU would have. Most economists now believe that Brexit has been disastrous for the UK.

2173 – A sad British day
I confess I shed a little tear this morning for the Queen. I know she had a good innings, but it still feels like the end of an era. It’s at times like this that I miss the UK – people there have been through a lot recently. Nothing compared to Ukraine or Pakistan of course, but after Brexit, Boris and Covid-19, I feel sorry that yet another upheaval is upon them.
