I like to sketch with bright colours – I haven’t done a black and white sketch in Years (apart from life drawing), so as soon as I saw these rubber ducks (left temporarily in our house by our ‘house-sitter’ over our holy week holiday, I knew I had to sketch them.

This sketch follows the #Inktober2023 prompt of ‘toy’. I had a little hunt in our daughters toy cupboards (they are grown up these days, but still don’t want us to get rid of any…hoarding runs in the family it seems), and thought this would make a good sketch (bright colours and interesting shapes), while I half watched a de-aged Harrison Ford in the last ‘Raiders’ film. I sketch straight to ink with no pencil work. If I start with pencil I get knotted up in details. If I do straight to ink, I make mistakes (the handle somehow shrunk in this one)!
