After our sketching with #UskQuezonCity in Taal, the local government very kindly gave us all a certificate of appreciation and gift for participating in the #Elpasubat2023 – unexpectedly generous of them. The gift was a balisong knife (also called a butterfly knife) which according to the blurb on the presentation frame was made in Taal and depicts the Filipino spirit of unity and cooperation. I took mine out of the presentation frame to use it to open a bottle of beer!

Here is a quick sketch I did at lunch while on the #UskQuezonCity Guhit Ng Pamana (draw the heritage) event at the Taal Elpasubat 2023 festival. Lunch was kindly laid on by the mayor at the Escuela Pia. This school building was built in 1885 for teaching underprivileged Taal youth.

Here is my first sketch done with #UskQuezonCity at the Taal Elpasubat 2023 festival (this celebrates the anniversary of the town). Taal is famous for its numerous ancestral houses, many of which are open to the public during this festival. #UskQc joined as an official part of the festival to “draw the heritage” (Guhit ng pamana).
