1229 – The cat at No.45

Yesterday I took a break from Inktober and ended up at Turtle Cover Marina again to do some sketching. I did drive around a bit but found nothing but fancy houses on deserted coastlines, all looking like trespassers would be shot if they ventured onto the beach nearby. I had to rush to finish this sketch as it started to rain (hence the blotchy look here and there)…of course by the time I got home the rain had stopped!

1216 – Histar

This is the second sketch I did at Turtle Creek Marina – again my location was dictated by seeking a bit of shade. For a change I took a photo of just the ink work before painting as I was thinking I would muck it up – in the end I think it looks better coloured. The boat seemed to be named Histar (can you spot the little star)…hence the title.

1209 – Caicos dream

After sitting on the edge of the jetty for my previous sketch (you can see the boat I drew on the far left), getting bitten by mosquitos and always in danger of dropping my kit into the sea, I found a concrete bench to sit at for this second sketch in Blue Haven Marina. Just as I was finishing this heavy clouds came over – a big hint that it was time go pack up and go home before getting soaked.

1208 – Blue haven marina

Just had to get out to sketch on Sunday despite the possibility of roasting in the sun or getting soaked in a storm. As it was the weather was fine. The Turks and Caicos Islands have beautiful beaches and is also popular with boat owners, so I thought seeking out a marina to sketch at would be fun. It was so quiet at this spot that the noisiest thing where I sat were the shoals of big fish splashing around below.

#290 – Le Yacht Club

Yesterday I took a nice long walk and without intending to ended up at Zeitunay Bay and marina. There was a lot to draw there – although the whole time I drew (sitting on the edge of the boardwalk because I got turfed off the bollard I was sitting on) I was nervous about dropping all my sketching kit into the sea!
