More life drawing from the @PensNBrushesArt life drawing session on Friday 19th April. These are all 20 minute poses done using a mixture of #Derwent water soluble graphite sketching pencils and watercolour pencils, watercolour and ink.

Here are some more sketches I did at the @PensNBrushesArt life drawing session on Friday 19th April. These poses were 2 minutes each and were done using #Derwent sketching pencils. I didn’t catch the name of the model, but think I may have drawn her before.

Finally I am moving on to posting some sketches done at the @PensNBrushesArt life drawing session on Friday 19th April. I haven’t been to life drawing for years – partly because of the pandemic, and partly because of the lack of sessions here in the Philippines. The session included two musicians who played for us (in the rather tiny studio) before the poses and as an interlude while the models switched over and rested. I was itching to get on with the drawing, so instead of waiting for the models I drew the musicians to start off (so not really an interlude in this one). This sketch was done in a few minutes with ink and oil pastel.

It has taken me ages but I’ve been scanning my old sketchbooks, starting with the first one I used regularly. Rather than post each sketch laboriously, I have made a little video and a collage. These sketches were done in the UK and are mostly black and white, done in ink or charcoal, though there are some also coloured with pastel.

The #Melogallery #HomeboundSketching subject for 5th May was “foot”. I often draw my own feet, so for a change, as my daughter had a snooze this morning, I took the opportunity to give it a try. Her legs are a lot smoother than the knobbly impression my drawing gives.

The deal with my daughter was that I would be allowed to draw her again (several of my previous attempts haven’t been that complimentary I suppose) if I would let her snooze on the couch through most of the morning. This is the result of the deal. Her hair looks like it was standing on end in this sketch…in reality her ‘just got out of bed’ hair doesn’t look that bad!
